BTWN AI Policy
BTWN Magazine is not interested in any AI generated content. Not only is AI ethically and morally suspect, it goes against our ethos of publishing innovative and unique human voices. As our fiction editor said, “My single greatest joy is reading something wild and original and getting to be the one who tells the author, ‘You’re amazing, we want to publish your story.’ That joy is completely voided if I suspect the [submission] used an algorithm constructed of other [creators’] uncredited works.”
Given that all we are paid in at this point is joy, that’s a pay cut we’re not willing to impose on our editorial team.
Wait. What? We’re being unfair? If you think we’re being unfair because we haven’t considered YOUR amazing, innovative, unique project using AI, pitch the editors. Describe your project, tell us how it’s not plagiarizing other creatives’ work, how the use of AI enhances rather than takes away from that indescribable human creative touch, how it is being used as a tool rather than the be-all and end-all.
Don’t use AI to pitch us, though. Seriously. That’s just lazy.
